This is a beautiful hand-crafted signet ring made out of sterling silver. There is a depiction of the gorgon Medusa carved on a black onyx stone framed in solid 24k gold. It was fabled that those who stared into Medusa's eyes would turn into stone. Medusa historically has been a symbol of female empowerment against a predominantly male orientated system. It was Perseus, the Greek hero and founder of Mycenae, who beheaded Medusa and used her as a weapon against Cetus to save Andromedahe.
